When Mike Soutar joined Charles Burrows & Co as a partner in 1994, he came with a strong auditing background, particularly from his time at KPMG.
Born and bred in Edinburgh, Mike went from Daniel Stewart’s and Melville College to study at Stirling University. He began his training as a CA in 1977 with Geddes Beaton & Co, later to become Spicer Watson.
On completion of his training, he joined Peat Marwick Mitchell in 1980 and remained with them until 1993 when he left what had become KPMG Peat Marwick to set up his own accountancy practice.
The following year he was invited to join Charles Burrows & Co.
He believes very much in building strong personal relationships with clients. Each partner has his own portfolio of clients but one of the strengths of the partnership is the breadth of experience and expertise they have to call on.
Mike’s wife Louise is also a CA and lectures at Napier University. They are both keen golfers which they often combine with their love of foreign travel.
